The Slater and Gordon Community Fund is a philanthropic fund which offers grants to individuals and groups for community projects. The funding applies to projects which meet either of the following objectives:
- Assisting people with disease and disability and promoting their participation and inclusion
- Addressing inequality and disadvantage
The fund is supported by donations through our Staff Giving Program as well as the firm itself.
Grant Application Guidelines
Objective
The Slater and Gordon Community Fund provides grants to projects, initiatives or programs in two key areas of focus.
Assisting people with disease and disability and promoting their participation and inclusion
Addressing inequality and disadvantage
Grant applicants should consider the objectives of the Fund when formulating applications.
Eligibility
Organisations eligible to apply for a grant must provide a benefit to the community in Australia and have the following:
- A purpose that is aligned with one of the two key areas of focus;
- Tax deductible charitable gift recipient status in Australia and
- A sound governance structure and capacity to have oversight of and to account for effective use of grant money.
All recommendations for funding are subject to approval by the Australian Communities Foundation as Trustee.
Specific Criteria
The minimum grant is $500. The maximum grant is $10,000. Grants are available for projects, programs and initiatives that further the objectives of the Slater and Gordon Community Fund.
Expenditure that will not be considered for funding includes:
General operating expenses and general salaries of an organisation;
Debt reduction of an organisation;
Legal expenses;
Capital works
Projects for which an alternative, accessible funding source is appropriate;
A written report will be required from successful applicants, within three months of the activity. The report will summarise the benefit of the grant awarded. This report may be published at the discretion of the Community Fund.
