Julijana is an Associate in the Land Rights, Disputes and Advocacy team, working across a range of matters including native title and other First Nations law, land contamination and impairment, not-for-profit law, discrimination, electoral law and a range of general litigation matters including in consumer matters such as conveyancing fraud.
Having worked with First Nations organisations and their members over a number of years, Julijana is a passionate advocate for Traditional Owners’ rights, self-determination, preservation of culture and the unique challenges they face.
Julijana brings her experience in public policy to the land rights space to add power to her advocacy for her clients. Julijana is keen to help not-for-profit organisations through governance challenges, and as director of a not-for-profit organisation herself, Julijana brings a deep understanding of the work of these organisations.
Experience as primary instructing solicitor on a significant land contamination and personal injury matter in the Supreme Court of Queensland has honed Julijana’s forensic litigation skills as well as her skills in client care through difficult legal processes.
Julijana is available to assist not-for-profit and social justice agencies with their legal work. Julijana is a proud unionist who is honoured to work for a firm that has a strong and illustrious history fighting for the labour movement.
Outside the law, Julijana is a passionate gender equity, social justice and healthcare advocate. She has served as an advisor to youth cancer and bone and soft tissue cancer peak bodies, runs a social housing advocacy group and is a director of Banksia Gardens Community Services, which services some of the most marginalised people in Melbourne’s north.
