Emma Pelka-Caven

Emma is the Head of Class Actions at Slater and Gordon.

She oversees a portfolio of class action proceedings in the Federal and Supreme Courts, as well as settlement administrations of proceedings and investigations into potential class actions.

Notable cases which Emma has acted in include the Spotless shareholder class action which settled for $95 million; the G8 Education class action which was the first ever group costs order ‘contingency’ fee proceeding in Victoria and a class action against The Star.

She leads a team of over 40 passionate and dedicated class actions specialist lawyers, as well as a client engagement team, a litigation technology team and support staff. Slater and Gordon’s class actions team are motivated to obtain the best possible results for group members and to act with integrity and professionalism.

Emma graduated from Monash University in 2004 with a Bachelor of Laws (with honours) and a Bachelor of Arts (with honours) and subsequently worked in civil litigation at an international defendant firm, an insurance coverage practice and now, in plaintiff litigation. She was formerly an Associate to the Honourable Justice Coldrey of the Supreme Court of Victoria.
