I joined Slater and Gordon’s Workers’ Compensation team in 2017 after three years practising in other firms. In May 2018 I moved to the Motor Vehicle Accident department, where I’m passionate about guiding injured clients through what can be an intimidating claim process.
My strong experience includes workers’ compensation disputes relating to liability for weekly payments, rate of pay disputes and payment of medical expenses. I have also fought for clients in the District Court for common law negligence claims against employers and third parties.
I chose law to make a real difference to people’s lives. When you’re injured and aren’t aware of your rights or don’t trust what the insurance company is telling you, it’s good to be guided by someone who knows the system. I make my clients aware of all of their options, so that they can choose the best path for them.
One of my proudest achievements is winning a settlement for a worker who was injured three years prior to getting a lawyer. She’d had two major surgeries and the insurer had denied liability. In the end, her settlement was close to the maximum possible under the workers’ compensation system.
