Our NSW Asbestos lawyers, Joanne Wade and Jessica Mackenzie hosted an open day and morning tea at the Asbestos Research Institute (ADRI) on November 2, 2017, to mark the beginning of Asbestos Awareness Month. Our team was joined by carers and sufferers of asbestos diseases.
Professor Takahasahi joined ADRI as the Director earlier this year. His goal is to make the world a safer place and to establish the institute as a global centre of excellence for asbestos-related diseases. He brings his expertise as a renowned epidemiologist.
He spoke to the group about his vision and direction for ADRI including the establishment of a Fibre Bank. The group then enjoyed a tour of the world-class facilities.
We were also joined by Jocelyn McLean and Karen Selmon, both Mesothelioma Support Coordinators. Jocelyn and Karen regularly run carers' support groups, and provide counselling.
We are proud supporters of ADRI, having donated to important research through our Asbestos Research Fund and regularly hosting Blue Morning Teas to raise money for research. Our next Blue Morning Tea will be held at the end of the month in our Sydney office.
