Tara Stark

I am a Practice Leader in our Medical Law team.

I first joined Slater and Gordon in 2008 and I have held a number of roles at the firm since that time across medical law, public liability and sexual abuse claims.

I represent clients in complex and sensitive matters and I draw upon my extensive advocacy, negotiation and litigation experience to serve clients with professionalism and care.

I currently work with clients to secure compensation for significant harms they have experienced during medical treatment.

I practice in medical negligence claims involving physical and psychological injury.

Given my background in abuse law and medical law, I also act for a number of people subjected to sexual abuse by health professionals.

I help clients to understand the legal process and I guide them through with clear explanations and advice.

I have been engaged as a speaker and community advocate on behalf of a number of organisations.

I have participated in significant consultations relating to mental health and families impacted by mental illness.

I have spoken widely in the media on matters relevant to carers and families of people experiencing mental illness and disability. I have been recognised with an Australia Day award for services to my local community.

Outside of role my as lawyer, I also have extensive advocacy experience working with children, young people and families impacted by mental illness and trauma.
