As Principal Lawyer in the Medical Law team at Slater and Gordon, I am proud to help those who have been injured as a result of medical negligence achieve the compensation, justice and support they deserve.
I truly understand the complex challenges you can face after being injured, and I’m passionate about helping you feel supported through the compensation process.
My knowledge of the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) and Queensland legal systems, along with my relationships with major defendant firms and eminent medical experts from here and abroad, allows me to provide the best advice, support and representation to win your case. I will leave no stone unturned and will fight for you every step of the way.
I also have significant experience in handling complex public liability and common law claims. Previously, I worked in insurance litigation, acting on behalf of the major insurers in professional indemnity, public liability, workers compensation and motor vehicle accident claims. My experience in both sides of compensation law means I have a unique insight into how insurers work.
After joining Slater and Gordon in February 2013 as an Associate, I took over the ACT Medical Law practice in July 2013. I was promoted to Senior Associate in 2015 and Principal Lawyer in early-2017. I was appointed Supervisor of the Queensland Medical Law practice from 2017 until mid-2019.
In addition to my Medical Law practice, I have recently been appointed as Supervisor of the ACT Public Liability practice and I draw on my experience to construct inventive case theories to resolve matters efficiently and favourably for my clients.
Liam Casey at Slater & Gordon (Canberra Office) managed my medical negligence claim. I found him from the outset to be informative, empathetic and practical. I cannot sing his praises enough. Liam and his colleagues were awesome in a time of a life changing event and ensured this was addressed appropriately. Liam communicated in a clear and comprehensive manner to enable me to provide informed instructions in my matter. I do not hesitate in recommending Liam to anyone seeking a good person and lawyer to represent them when they're allegedly wronged. My family and I will always be very thankful and appreciative that we had Liam and his colleagues on our side. Our matter was resolved successfully. Thank you Liam and Slater & Gordon!”
