I was driven to study law out of a desire to help people and make a positive difference to people's lives, and so practising in an area where I am helping injured people access compensation is incredibly rewarding.
Growing up in small towns before moving to Brisbane to study law, I gained a unique experience of the health system in regional areas and rural towns and the struggles that many Queenslanders face when trying to access health care.
In early 2020, I began specialising solely in the area of medical law. Since this time, I have gained experience running medical law claims in the pre-court phase and litigating matters, including matters involving birth injuries, spinal injuries, surgical errors and missed or delayed diagnoses.
Prior to specialising in medical law, I practised in personal injuries matters which included work injuries, motor vehicle accidents and public liability. During the course of my studies, I gained experience at a large commercial law firm, which gave me an understanding into the way that insurers and defendants operate.
When Queenslanders place their health in the hands of medical professionals and they are left with life-changing injuries, it is devastating for those who have suffered the injuries, and also for their families and loved ones. Poor outcomes can occur in the absence of any negligence. However, when injuries occur as a result of negligence and could have been avoided, it is important to understand your rights and whether a claim can be brought to recoup your loses.
Legal claims can be complex, hard-fought and emotionally draining, and without the right lawyer, the legal process can be incredibly difficult to navigate. I am passionate about delivering legal services with empathy and explaining the law and the legal process in a way that my clients can understand it. I aim to provide upfront and compassionate advice, and work with my clients to understand what they want out of a claim and advise them openly and honestly about what is and isn’t possible, so that they feel informed and empowered.
I care deeply about my clients’ wellbeing and ensuring that they are receiving the appropriate treatment and rehabilitation wherever possible. A compensation claim can never take away someone’s pain and suffering. However, it has the potential to help clients pay for the treatment, rehabilitation and equipment they need to make their lives more comfortable - and this can be life changing. Where my clients are unable to work or have a need for care as a result of their injuries, they are often struggling to make ends meet and compensation put them in a better financial position to relieve some of that stress.
I feel proud to represent my clients on their legal journey and to help them obtain compensation to rebuild their lives. If you are in need of legal assistance due to negligent medical treatment, please reach out.
