I have always had a keen interest in medical law from when I commenced my undergraduate degree in Ireland. I decided very early on in my career I wanted to pursue this area of law. I believe it is a relatable area of law that everyone deals with. We all attend and likely have a general practitioner and throughout our lifetime we will undergo some form of procedure or surgery or treatment. Unfortunately, at times, the health system fails people, and it is important when it does that the people that have been impacted are aware of their rights but also are aware of the people to go to get this advice from.
It is important that our clients are protected during this overwhelming time in their life, and I believe from my experience that I can guide our clients in successfully concluding their case.
I was fortunate enough to commence an internship at a leading defendant law firm in Ireland in 2016 and remained there until 2020 where I did my practical legal training there and then qualified as a medical law lawyer. During this time, I mainly worked in the medical law department and was fortunate enough to be involved in a number of precedent setting cases in the Republic of Ireland.
I decided I wanted to commence plaintiff work and commenced working in a leading plaintiff law firm from 2020 in the Republic of Ireland until I immigrated to Brisbane in 2022. During this time, I was involved in a number of cases involving delayed diagnosis, surgical errors as well as birth injuries.
Once I immigrated to Brisbane, I started working at another plaintiff law firm in 2023 and remained there until 2025. I worked in the medical law team taking new client calls and drafting reports to the medical law lawyers to determine whether we could help people with their medical law grievance. I then commenced working as a law clerk from February 2024 until April 2025 where I had and ran my own medical law files.
I commenced working at Slater and Gordon lawyers in August 2025.
