Giving survivors of child sexual abuse a voice is very important to me. The legal system here in Western Australia provides an opportunity for justice and I have enormous energy to fight on behalf of my clients to achieve the outcome they seek.
I am a mother of three children and understand how children need to be protected. Consequently I well understand what survivors of child sexual abuse deserved but did not receive as children. I consider that the future is full of hope and opportunity for everyone. Standing up for an individual's rights can bring that truth into focus and I am very keen to help survivors on their journey, should they decide it is their time to seek justice.
I am an experienced lawyer and give advice that is both legally sound and practical.
I have been practising law for over 25 years. My first five years of law were at Blake Dawson Waldron, a national law firm, predominantly in Perth and also in Sydney. Other roles include Legal Counsel and Company Secretary at Barrick Gold of Australia for over 10 years, a litigation lawyer at the Australian Securities & Investment Commission and assessor for the Anglican and Catholic churches. I was a senior sessional member of the State Administrative Tribunal from 2011 to 2017 where I both mediated and determined legal disputes.
I have been a non-executive Director for the Perron Institute for Neurological and Translational Science since 2016. Previously I was a non-executive Director for the Minerals & Energy Research Institute of WA, and a Board member for EMTECH, a not-for-profit that assisted people with disabilities to obtain and maintain employment.
