Slater and Gordon has thrown its support behind Road Trauma Support Services (RTSS) by sponsoring this year’s Shine a Light campaign.

The purpose of the RTSS initiative is to raise awareness and prevent injuries and deaths on Victorian roads while raising funds to support those who have been impacted by road accidents.

As part of this year’s awareness campaign the RTSS will hold a community walk around Albert Park this Sunday 7 May.

Up to 100 Slater and Gordon staff and clients are set to participate in the walk to highlight their support.

Slater and Gordon Senior Lawyer Joanne Panagakis said the impact that road accidents had on victims and their families was often devastating.

Ms Panagakis said it was important for Slater and Gordon to be involved in the Shine a Light campaign.

“Many lives are changed forever because of one incident that in most cases can be avoided,” Ms Panagakis said.

“We are extremely proud to be involved in this campaign and bring greater awareness to such an important issue.

“I hope as many people can get down to the walk the Sunday in order to support those people touched by road accidents.”

The Shine a Light campaign will also include a campaign for motorists to turn on their car headlights on Friday 12 May.

Between May 8 and 14, various iconic Melbourne landmarks will be lit up yellow. Sites include Parliament House, Bolte Bridge, Arts Centre Spire, State Library, AAMI Park, Carousel Geelong, Melbourne Star, Box Hill Town Hall and Ballarat Town Hall.

RTSS is a not-for-profit organisation that contributes to the safety and wellbeing of Victorian road users. It provides counselling, information and support to people impacted by road trauma, including those who may fall through the cracks of funding from the TAC.
