Leading workers rights law firm Slater and Gordon has been recognised as an Inclusive Employer by the Diversity Council of Australia (DCA) for the second year in a row.
Slater and Gordon CEO, Dina Tutungi, said the recognition reflects the the commitment across the firm to building a workplace where people feel respected, valued, and safe to contribute.
“Diversity and inclusion are central to who we are as a firm and to our purpose of opening up access to justice for more Australians. This recognition reflects our ongoing commitment to creating a workplace where everyone feels respected, supported, and able to contribute their lived experience,” Ms Tutungi said.
“It’s not just about the workplace. An inclusive culture strengthens how we listen, how we collaborate, and how we stand alongside the people and communities we represent.”
“Many of the people who come to us feel unheard or overlooked. Being able to engage with a team that reflects their community, their culture, or their lived experience can make a meaningful difference. Whether that is speaking their first language or working with someone who understands their background, it helps create trust and dignity at moments when people need it most,” Ms Tutungi said.
Slater and Gordon’s commitment to long-term inclusion is reflected in initiatives that strengthen representation across the firm and support the communities it serves.
The firm has sponsored the annual African Music and Cultural Festival since its inception in 2014, maintains a Senior Leadership Team comprised predominantly of women, and offers legal support in more than 25 languages – helping ensure clients can access advice in the language and context that feels most comfortable to them. These efforts demonstrate the firm’s focus on building an environment where people of all backgrounds feel supported, respected, and able to fully participate.
“We’re proud of the dedication shown across the firm to make inclusion part of our daily work. “We will continue to invest in initiatives and advocacy that reflect these values,” Ms Tutungi said.
