Slater and Gordon has opened its doors in Bendigo this month, marking a new level of legal support to residents in Bendigo, Maryborough and Ararat.
The office is located at 94 Pall Mall, Bendigo.
The new office brings Slater and Gordon lawyer Fleur Jackson, who grew up in Bendigo, full circle.
“I was born and raised in Bendigo. The first time I moved away from Bendigo was to go and study law in Melbourne,” Ms Jackson said.
“Slater and Gordon has worked for more than 75 years to achieve just outcomes for everyday people. I’m extremely pleased to bring the resources of a national law firm back to Bendigo.
“In particular, I will be looking to build on our work with local unions and their members to assist those who are injured at work or in need of our other legal services.”
Slater and Gordon has had a presence in Bendigo through its visiting service which has been operating for more than two years, but the law firm has now opened a permanent office to meet increasing demand for legal services in regional Victoria.
“A permanent presence in Bendigo will improve access to the legal system for Bendigo residents,” Ms Jackson said.
Ms Jackson, who has been a lawyer for eight years, said the office would offer a range of legal services including the specialised areas of motor vehicle accident and workers compensation claims.
“Accessing the legal system can be very complex and sometimes people feel daunted by the process,” she said.
“I’m proud to be able to represent people who find themselves in tough situations, often through no fault of their own.”
Slater and Gordon General Manager Cath Evans said the move signalled a growing commitment to regional Victoria.
“We take great pride in representing hard-working Australians and we are pleased to be bringing a lawyer of Fleur’s experience and skills back to Bendigo,” Ms Evans said.
“Our law firm is continuing to grow in Victoria and people in and around Bendigo can look forward to having greater access to our affordable, expert legal advice.”
