Slater and Gordon lawyer Tabetha Hilliard has been awarded the Una Prentice Award for highest achieving graduate female law student from the Central Queensland University in 2016.
The Women Lawyers Association of Queensland (WLAQ) award is presented to the highest achieving female student from each of the law schools across the state.
Slater and Gordon General Manager Karen Simpson said Tabetha was a deserving recipient of the prestigious award.
“The Una Prentice Award is one of the highest achievements for graduating law students in the state, recognising hard work and dedication,” Ms Simpson said.
“This is a wonderful accomplishment for Tabetha who has gone above and beyond to achieve the highest marks amongst her female classmates.
“It also reiterates the importance of recognising high achieving women in the legal sector.
“On behalf of Slater and Gordon I would like to congratulate Tabetha on her outstanding achievement and wish her all the best for what I am sure is going to be a prosperous career.”
Ms Hilliard said she was honoured to receive this award in front of her family and colleague, Travis Schultz.
“Receiving this award is recognition that you can work and study full time, raise a young family and have the career that you have always wanted,” Ms Hilliard said.
“Anything is possible if you are willing to work hard for what you want and never give up.
“I felt especially privileged to receive the award in front of my colleagues and family who have been an integral part of my journey.”
Tabetha received her award at the Una Prentice Awards evening in honour of the first woman to graduate from the Faculty of Law at the University of Queensland in 1938.
