Monash locals will have direct access to Australia’s biggest consumer law firm when Slater and Gordon opens for business in Glen Waverley this week.
Slater and Gordon Practice Group Leader, Diana Agostinelli, who will run the new office, said the move was good news for locals, who would be able to benefit from a range of legal services on offer.
“We have always acted for a lot of people from the Monash area and this is about increasing the level of service to our existing clients while giving others from the area the opportunity to walk in off the street and access our full range of legal services,” Ms Agostinelli said.
The new office will give the community access to lawyers with experience in all areas of personal injury law, including Workcover, TAC claims, medical negligence, asbestos and public liability claims. It will also have a team specialising in hearing loss claims.
In addition, Slater and Gordon will offer a full range of legal services including Family Law, conveyancing and commercial litigation.
“The Glen Waverley area has undergone a phase of fairly rapid development and we see the local office as a way of ensuring that the level of legal services on offer to people who live locally keeps pace with that growth,” Ms Agostinelli said.
The new Slater and Gordon office comes hot on the heels of the firm’s announcement of a major expansion of its UK operations, following the firm’s move into that market last year.
“The firm is committed to expanding its network of offices throughout Australia as part of our goal to ensure people in local communities have access to everyday legal services that are both convenient and affordable,” Ms Agostinelli said.
Local lawyer, Nimna Rupasinghe, will also be based at the new Glen Waverley office.
“I am excited about working within a community that is close to my heart as I live in the area. I have worked closely with members of the Sri Lankan and other South East region communities for a long time on a voluntary basis and I consider it a privilege to be able to ensure the legal rights of individuals living in this region are properly protected,” Ms Rupasinghe said.
Janine Gregory, who is General Manager of Slater and Gordon’s Victorian Personal Injury practice, said the move into Glen Waverley was an important one for the firm.
“Diana is one of the firm’s most experienced Practice Group Leaders and her appointment to run this new local office reflects the importance of this local office to the firm’s overall commitment to providing legal services to all Australians,” Ms Gregory said.
The new office will open on August 26 at Level 1, 63 Kings Way, Glen Waverley.
