Slater and Gordon acquires Fiocco's Lawyers
Posted on 01 Aug. 2014
Slater and Gordon Lawyers has announced today its acquisition of Perth-based law firm Fiocco’s Lawyers.
General manager Siri Siriwardene said the acquisition was another step towards Slater and Gordon becoming one of the State’s best known and largest law firms.
“Fiocco’s Lawyers has a proud 25-year history of servicing the legal needs of everyday Western Australians, and we’re pleased the firm will join the Slater and Gordon team,” he said.
“After decades representing everyday people, workers and union clients, Fiocco’s reputation and similar values were major factors in deciding to acquire the firm.”
Fiocco’s Lawyers principal John Fiocco said joining forces with Slater and Gordon would see him and his staff continue to deliver quality, affordable legal services to West Australians.
“Our firm has a long history of practicing various areas of law including estates and wills, family law, criminal law, compensation claims, industrial relations, employment law matters and commercial transactions,” he said.
“We’ve enjoyed being a full service law firm, especially representing members of the Shop Distributive and Allied Employees’ Association of WA – this State’s largest union organisation.
“We share the same important values as Slater and Gordon and look forward to coming on board with such an experienced and dedicated team.”
Mr Siriwardene said an extensive due diligence process was completed prior to the acquisition’s announcement.
The procurement of Fiocco’s Lawyers follows the acquisition of Gibson & Gibson last August which grew the firm’s WA operations by one-third.
The decision to list the firm on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) in 2007 set the legal practice on a trajectory of further growth, innovation and diversification.
Today, Slater and Gordon is Australia’s largest consumer law firm, with more than 1200 staff in 70 locations across Australia and 1,300 staff across 13 locations in the UK and a revenue of A$297.6 million in FY13.
