Since arriving in Newcastle 18 months ago, Slater and Gordon lawyer Mahen Manokarathas has made a positive impact on the local community and his clients, many of whom have suffered serious injuries at work.

Mr Manokarathas was last week promoted to Associate for the work he had done supporting and acting for numerous workers’ compensation clients in the region.

He transferred to Newcastle in early 2017 after enjoying strong results in the firm’s Ashfield office.

Mr Manokarathas said he felt privileged supporting Newcastle’s injured workers, many of whom were suffering both physical and psychological injuries.

“There is no greater satisfaction for me than seeing a client’s face when they receive their desired result,” Mr Manokarathas said.

“I also enjoy hearing from clients after achieving a result and hearing how the outcome has affected their lives.”

Slater and Gordon Newcastle Practice Group Leader Doug Williams said since arriving, Mr Manokarathas had exhibited strong leadership skills, expanding the office’s workers’ compensation practice and achieving strong results for clients.

Mr Williams said he had shown a great ability to simplify often complex matters for clients who had no experience with the legal process, while helping them access medical support, income assistance and compensation in order to get their lives back on track after shocking workplace accidents.

“Mahen’s dedication to his clients is inspiring and regularly shows through in the outcomes he has delivered for them,” Mr Williams said.

Slater and Gordon General Manager Personal Injury NSW Rachael James said the law firm was extremely proud to have helped develop young lawyers, like Mr Manokarathas, who were passionate about supporting clients.

“It is great for Mahen to receive the recognition for the amazing work and the wonderful results he has achieved.” Ms James said.
