Slater and Gordon lawyer James Plunkett will soon be packing his bags to continue his studies at Oxford University.
James graduated in law and science from Melbourne University before working briefly in Slater and Gordon’s Melbourne office and then returning to the LaTrobe Valley in 2007 to join the team at Slater and Gordon Morwell’s office.
He is due to complete a Master of Law at Melbourne University in August before leaving for Oxford in September to study for a Master of Business Administration (MBA).
As well as being accepted into Oxford, James has also been accepted into Oxford’s prestigious college, Christ Church.
Christ Church, which opened in 1525, was used as a location for Hogwarts in the Harry Potter movies.
Christ Church has also been the home of 13 former British Prime Ministers, Edward VII (former King of England), John Wesley (founder of Methodism) and Lewis Carroll, author of The Adventures of Alice in Wonderland (which is also set in part in Christ College).
James, a former Sale High School student, grew up in Tyers. He currently lives in Traralgon.
"I love living in the LaTrobe Vally and working at Slater and Gordon's Morwell office, though I still can’t wait to go,” James said.
“It should be a lot of fun! Although, I hear it will be very cold over Christmas.”
After graduation, James plans to return to the Latrobe Valley: "Hopefully, by that stage, I'll be a bit more worldly, and ready to get back into the court room."
