In 2014, the NSW Government began a consultation process regarding the future South-West rail corridor which is proposed to run from St Marys, past the M4 and Badgerys Creek to Leppington and Narellan in the South West of Sydney. Further consultation and community meetings have recently taken place, with detailed maps showing the proposed route passing through Leppington, Bringelly, Catherine Field, Oran Park, Harrington Park and Narellan.
The Government has made it clear that this stage of the project only involves the reservation of land, rather than any compulsory acquisitions. However, if your land is affected by a planning reservation, you may still be entitled to compensation. This can be for a “loss on sale” or as compensation for your inability to develop the land beyond its current use.
As soon as your property is affected by a planning reservation or compulsory acquisition, it is very important to get legal advice.
