Dr Gayed was found guilty of professional misconduct by the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal on 6 June 2018, following the mismanagement of patients.
Since this finding, hundreds of women have come forward with complaints about the doctor. A large scale, independent review by the NSW Department of Health and the Medical Council is underway and will examine the doctor's conduct over more than two decades.
The first part of the independent review conducted by Gail Furness was released in November 2018 and raises serious concerns about the conduct of the New South Wales regulators. A second report will be released in January 2019 and Slater and Gordon will continue to carefully monitor the findings to assess the best avenues for women who have been affected by Dr Gayed to access justice and compensation.
