Investigation Paused
Slater and Gordon has paused its active investigation into the Shield and First Guardian Master Funds as a result of ongoing activity by ASIC and the liquidators of the funds, including Macquarie committing to remediate affected investors (see 25-125MR Macquarie admits to Shield contraventions and commits to pay affected members).
Slater and Gordon is pleased Macquarie has made this commitment to repay thousands of Australians. We will continue to monitor developments regarding other parties involved in the Shield and First Guardian Master Funds and may recommence an active investigation or bring class action proceedings in the future.

FAQs
A class action is a type of legal claim, where one person or business files a claim with the Court as the representative on behalf of people who have been affected or claims that arise out of the same, similar or related circumstances. It is a way of hearing related claims together that is efficient and cost-effective for all the affected parties and the Court, because of how similar those claims are.

A class action is a type of legal proceeding in which one person, the representative plaintiff, brings a claim on behalf of a wider group of people who have been affected by the same conduct. By grouping claims together and pursuing them collectively, the overall value of the claim makes it economically worthwhile to do so, even if the value of individual claims are modest.
