Tathra Bushfires Class Action

Slater and Gordon investigating the legal rights of residents and property owners

Slater and Gordon is investigating the legal rights of residents and property owners affected by the devastating bushfires that occurred in the NSW town of Tathra. The blaze ripped through hundreds of hectares of bush between Tarragunda and Tathra, destroying 65 homes, 35 cabins and caravans, and damaging dozens more.

A New South Wales Rural Fire Service investigation has found electrical infrastructure on Reedy Swamp Road, Tarraganda as the likely cause.

Slater and Gordon will be investigating whether Essential Energy adhered to stringent inspection and ongoing maintenance requirements and ultimately what could have been done to prevent the bushfire.

Former Federal Police Commissioner Mick Keelty has been appointed to lead an independent inquiry into the management of the bushfire response. There will also be an official Coronial Inquest conducted to formally determine the cause of the fire. We will be closely examining the findings of those inquiries.

Slater and Gordon is offering free advice to those who have been affected by the fire to discuss their rights in any prospective legal action.

As part of that service we also want to discuss with you the nature of your losses and what record keeping processes can be put in place to assist in substantiating your claim should a legal proceeding be commenced.

Many people may now be discovering the extent of their uninsured losses and we are offering advice to those who find themselves in such situation.

Although it is early days for the investigation, the sooner you obtain advice, the better protected your rights will be. We encourage residents and property owners affected by the fire to contact us for an free consultation on 1800 555 777.

By registering your interest with us, we will keep you up to date with our investigations into the fire.

Should any legal action be commenced we will offer our services on a No Win No FeeTM* basis. Under a No Win No FeeTM* Agreement, Slater and Gordon can only charge you for its professional service if a successful result is obtained from the legal representation.
