More than 300 juniors and 450 seniors are playing for 70 teams across two competitions this season, marking 40 years since Tamworth Touch Association was formed in 1975.
TTA President Stephen Young said player numbers have been increasing steadily over the past few seasons.
“It’s a really exciting time for touch football in Tamworth and it’s set to get even bigger over the next 12 months,” Mr Young said.
“Slater and Gordon’s financial support will help us build a competition that’s the envy of every sport in the region.”
“We’ve grown a lot over the past 40 years and this partnership will allow us to move to the next level, with more resources and a possible high school competition.”
Slater and Gordon Tamworth Office Leader Josh McKay plays in the senior division and is proud to support the grassroots organisation.
“I’m out there every week playing for the Vipers team and the community atmosphere is incredibly welcoming and inclusive,” Mr McKay said.
“Teenagers are playing alongside men and women in their 50s – everyone is equal on the field.”
“As a personal injury lawyer, I work closely with many local professionals and touch footy is a rare chance for us to let our hair down and get a bit of exercise.”
Stephen and Josh sealed the 12 month sponsorship deal with a handshake in front of the new Slater and Gordon banner at the Tamworth Touch clubhouse.
