National law firm Slater and Gordon has announced two new leadership roles in Queensland, reflecting the continued focus on growth in the personal injuries practice.

Practice Group Leaders Luke Short and Karen Simpson have been appointed as joint managers of the Queensland personal injury practice, starting this month. While Mr Short is a fresh face to Slater and Gordon, Ms Simpson has been with the firm for six years in senior roles.

Slater and Gordon general manager Hayden Stephens said Mr Short will have responsibility for driving the growth of the firm in regional areas, while Ms Simpson’s focus will mainly be on Brisbane and surrounds.

Mr Short’s legal expertise has primarily been in the areas of Workcover common law claims and CTP claims. He was a Principal Lawyer with Trilby Misso before taking on this new role at Slater and Gordon.

“I am looking forward to this new challenge with great enthusiasm,” Mr Short said.

“I will be working on building new relationships with clients, organisations and groups as Slater and Gordon continues to grow outside south-east Queensland.”

“And I will be focussed on making sure that people know about the whole breath of services that we have to offer.”

Karen Simpson, who has been with Slater and Gordon since 2005, has been the firm’s leading workers compensation lawyer in Brisbane.

“Our work is about primarily helping injured people and making sure that they not only have access to justice, but to affordable legal services,” she said.

“For more than 75 years Slater and Gordon has built-up a powerful reputation and our company is very keen to make sure that more Queenslanders can access our services,” Ms Simpson said.

Established 76 years ago, Slater and Gordon has built a powerful reputation as a law firm which fights for the best outcomes for everyday Australians.  Today Slater and Gordon offers its broad range of legal services at more locations than any other law firm in the country, delivering affordable legal advice and justice to more Australians.
