Narrandera’s Zac Williams will become the first member of the Slater and Gordon GIANTS Academy to play for the GWS AFL team when he makes his debut against the Gold Coast Suns at StarTrack Oval in Canberra this weekend.

Slater and Gordon lawyer Geoff O’Hare congratulated the 18-year old midfielder and wished him well for his first game.

“We are all very excited for Zac and everyone at the academy,” Mr O’Hare said.

“When we first announced this partnership, we talked about how wonderful it would be to see players from the academy pull on the GIANTS jumper in years to come.

“Thanks to the hard work put in by Zac, Slater and Gordon GIANTS Academy manager Lachie Buszard and his team that is now happening.

“Many people grow up dreaming about playing in the AFL, but few actually get to do it - we hope Zac enjoys every moment.”

The Slater and Gordon GIANTS Academy nurtures young talent aged between 14 and 18 years across NSW, ACT and the Northern Territory, actively developing the skills needed for young players to be recruited.

Zac Williams was taken with pick 55 in the 2013 Rookie Draft and has been a stand out for the UWS GIANTS in the NEAFL over the past four weeks.

Zac been part of the Slater and Gordon GIANTS Academy since 2011 and was the only player from NSW to be invited to the annual AFL 2012 draft camp in Melbourne. He also impressed at the 2012 U18 National Championship playing for the NSW/ACT side.
