Warrnambool's Civic Green will be the focus of family fun and food this month when national law firm Slater and Gordon puts on a barbecue and entertainment to thank locals for their support since opening an office in the city last year.

The firm has invited residents and visitors to the city to get into the spirit with giveaways, a free sausage sizzle, face painting, a jumping castle, live music and more.

Warrnambool lawyer Cameron Tout said the Free Family Fun Day on October 20 was a celebration of the firm's one year anniversary in Warrnambool.

"Warrnambool is such a strong community and this is just a small token of our appreciation for the fact that we are now a part of that community," Mr Tout said.

He said the day was also an opportunity for local lawyers to interact with the community and, hopefully, dispel some of the myths about lawyers being "a bit boring".

"Just because we have law degrees and work in an office, it doesn't mean we don't know how to have a bit of fun," Mr Tout said.

"I think my fellow Warrnambool locals would be surprised to know that I can fashion a pretty good sausage dog out of a balloon."

As well as the usual balloon-bending antics, musicians from South West Tafe will perform live music and there will be plenty of giveaways, colouring in and other fun and games.

"Just because winter sports is now out of the way for another year, it doesn't mean there's any excuse to sleep in on a Saturday," Mr Tout said.

The Slater and Gordon Free Family Fun Day will run 11am to 2pm Saturday, October 20, at the Civic Green, Liebig St, Warrnambool.
