The Nambucca Heads Men’s Shed which helps men advance their health and wellbeing has received a $2000 Slater and Gordon Community Fund grant to complete a fit out for a lunch room and install security equipment.
Slater and Gordon’s NSW General Manager Stuart Barnett said the organisation was doing great work providing social support services aimed at maintaining and expanding men’s social networks, providing education on healthcare and developing work-related skills.
“The Men’s Shed plays an important role in the Nambucca Heads community and provides a venue for men to come together to pursue hobbies, learn new skills and understand their own and other men’s health and wellbeing,” Mr Barnett said.
“Developing these skills allows the men to then contribute to their families, friends, the organisation and the community as a whole.
“We’re proud to be providing a grant to help the Men’s Shed finish the refurbishment of their lunch room as well as install security equipment.”
Mr Barnett said the Nambucca Heads Men’s Shed grant was one of three community groups in NSW to receive funding in the latest round of Community Fund grants.
The grants are awarded to community organisations for initiatives that promote healthy living for young people, assist people with disease or disability or address inequality and disadvantage.
Donations from Slater and Gordon’s Staff Giving Program are combined with funds from the law firm and channelled into the Slater and Gordon Community Fund. This is a fund managed by the Australian Communities Foundation.
