National law firm Slater and Gordon has taken a further step towards establishing itself as one of Australia’s leading family law practices with the acquisition of specialist family law firm Rod Powe Lawyers in Maitland, NSW.
Rod Powe Lawyers has a hard won reputation for delivering the gold standard of family law work in Maitland and the lower Hunter Valley. Mr Powe is a highly-qualified legal expert as an accredited specialist in both family law and advocacy.
Rod will join Slater and Gordon’s highly experienced and growing family law team, which has been recently bolstered by the appointment of new National Practice Group leader, Mr Ian Shann.
After successfully operating Rod Powe Lawyers since 2001, Mr Powe said he was pleased his firm, located about 40 minutes north-west of Newcastle, was joining the Slater and Gordon network.
“Dealing with family law issues is always a sensitive matter. It’s an increasingly specialised field of law that benefits from both professional and life experience as well as a capacity to understand and empathise with people at a particularly challenging time in their lives,” he said.
“I am proud that Rod Powe Lawyers will now be joining the Slater and Gordon team, and am pleased to be taking on this new challenge in my career.”
Slater and Gordon managing director Andrew Grech said bringing in such a specialised firm would mean clients could expect an even greater dedication to issues such as divorce, property claims, child support, parenting orders, and other sensitive family law issues.
“Rod will be a great addition to our existing highly experienced family law team. We are very pleased to now be able to offer further support in this specialist area of law in and around the Hunter Valley, where we already have many clients and plenty of scope for growth,” he said.
With a resume that boasts extensive legal experience in Tasmania and NSW, as both a lawyer and an academic at several universities across Australia, Slater and Gordon is pleased to be welcoming such a well-regarded legal expert as Rod Powe into the firm.
Mr Powe’s private practice has been involved in litigation since 1989. He currently practices as an accredited specialist solicitor and advocate in the Family Court of Australia and the Federal Magistrates Court as well as acting as an arbitrator and a mediator in family law matters.
