One of the state’s leading family lawyers, Paul Byrne, has joined Slater and Gordon in Brisbane as a principal family lawyer, bringing with him nearly 20 years experience practicing law in Queensland.
Paul comes to Slater and Gordon with his team from Byrne Legal Group, a boutique Brisbane-based law firm that has achieved outstanding results for many clients over the years.
General Manager of Slater and Gordon’s Brisbane office, Graeme McFadyen, said Paul’s arrival at the firm would be a major boost for the non-personal injury legal services sector.
“This is an exciting time for Slater and Gordon in Queensland as we expand into family law, an area we have seen grow considerably in other states,” Mr McFadyen said.
“Paul has an enormous amount of experience and is highly regarded across the state for his expertise and integrity.
“He is an important addition to our Brisbane office as we continue to grow in Queensland,” he said.
Paul’s arrival at the firm will also see the introduction of a fixed family fee service, an innovation in the legal profession started in 2011 by Slater and Gordon - the first national law firm to offer this type of fee structure.
Paul said he is looking forward to helping people through what can often be the most difficult time in their lives.
“My approach to family law is to provide value to our clients and focus on achieving the best results. We encourage settlements, not arguments,” Mr Byrne said.
“I’m proud to be part of a professional firm that provides sensible, practical and realistic advice.
“And the introduction of fixed fees will bring an end to one of the greatest uncertainties confronting people dealing with a relationship breakdown - open-ended costs for family law matters,” he said.
Paul grew up in Queensland and has been providing legal services to clients in South East Queensland for nearly 20 years. He also provides guest lectures three times a year to law graduates at the Queensland University of Technology.
