Local law firm Slater and Gordon is again supporting the Spinal Injuries Association Cruise for a Cause event in Townsville this weekend, as part of Spinal Injuries Awareness Week (11-17 November).
A highlight on the local calendar, enthusiasts of restored, unique and classic cars will cruise through the streets of Townsville this Sunday and meet at Strand Park to display their vehicles as part of a competition that raises money for the Spinal Injuries Association.
Townsville Slater and Gordon personal injury lawyer, Brian Edmond, said the purpose of the event was to raise awareness for safety on our roads and to highlight how catastrophic injuries can impact on someone’s life.
“I’ve represented people who have to live with the massive impact of having a spinal cord injury caused by a motor vehicle accident,” Mr Edmond said.
“Spinal injuries are among the most serious injuries that can occur on the road or in the workplace.
“With holidays just around the corner and more cars on the road, it’s important to be mindful of the road rules and to drive safely.
“A life can be taken away so quickly. Don’t let a small error change your life forever,” he said.
This is the third year Slater and Gordon have supported Cruise for a Cause. The Spinal Injuries Association is a not-for-profit organisation that provides support and services to people who live with a spinal cord injury as a result of an accident or illness.
