Lawyers and support staff from Slater and Gordon will have their negotiation skills put to the test this week (Wednesday, 19 November) when they participate in The Children’s Hospital at Westmead’s 2014 Christmas Appeal 2UE Radiothon – a live broadcast from the hospital from 5am to 6pm.
NSW General Manager Rachael James said not only was the firm proudly sponsoring the annual telethon which is aiming to raise $1 million, but staff members from all of the firm’s NSW offices had also undertaken a number of fundraising activities to help contribute towards the hospital’s Christmas appeal.
“We are well aware of the wonderful work that goes on at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead because sadly, we see a number of our clients have to spend time there while their little ones recover from an incident,” Ms James said.
“We know that about 70,000 sick kids from NSW and the ACT are treated at Westmead every year and between now and February 2015, two spinal cord operations will be performed every day.
“It is crucial the hospital continues to receive support and funding so they are able to carry out this work.
“It gives us an immense sense of pride to be supporting this worthy cause, which is why staff from all of our offices in NSW have become involved in fundraising efforts.
“We’ve hosted fundraising morning teas, collected small change from staff members and this week, staff from our local offices in Penrith, Parramatta, Ashfield, Liverpool and Sydney CBD will jump on the phones to raise money for the annual 2UE telethon.
“We are lucky to work in such supportive and vibrant communities, so it is important that we take stock and do our bit to give back in every way we can.”
Slater and Gordon is one of the two major sponsors of the 2UE 2014 Radiothon for The Children's Hospital at Westmead - an annual event that attracts support from businesses, celebrities, sporting stars and local communities across NSW and the ACT.
