A community organisation that provides play therapy to help children overcome emotional challenges has received $6,000 in funding from Slater and Gordon’s latest round of Community Fund grants.

Slater and Gordon general manager, personal injury, Stuart Barnett said Warriewood’s Be Centre was a unique charity that created individual play therapy programs for children who had been impacted by traumatic circumstances.

The Community Fund grant will provide three x 12 week therapy sessions for children suffering financial hardship in the community.

“This is an extremely worthwhile cause and will give at-risk children in the community access to vital therapeutic support to help them resolve problems,” he said.

“In our line of work we often see how children can be impacted when they’re exposed to challenging situations.

“That is why it is so important that we continue support organisations like this which help children overcome their fears or concerns so they can reach their full potential.”

The successful recipient was one of three NSW organisations that applied for a Community Fund grant to support an initiative that would either promote healthy living for young people; assist people with disease or disability; or address inequality and disadvantage.

Donations from Slater and Gordon’s Staff Giving Program are combined with funds from the law firm and channelled into the Slater and Gordon Community Fund. This is a fund managed by the Australian Communities Foundation.
