In May 2014 the New South Wales Government announced its intention to purchase a fleet of trains that will carry long distance customers from:

  • Sydney to the Central Coast
  • Newcastle
  • The Blue Mountains
  • and the Illawarra

An enclosed maintenance facility will be built to maintain the new fleet. Land adjacent to the Main Northern railway line at Kangy Angy on the Central Coast has been identified as a preferred site. A new access road into the proposed site from the Pacific Highway is also planned. Community consultation on the design details and potential impacts of the facility will take place in early 2016.

Construction is expected to begin in 2017. Slater and Gordon are in discussions with a number of members of the community in Kangy Angy who believe that the Transport for NSW will require the acquisition of their properties.

It is important that those affected obtain expert advice about their entitlements and that you know where you stand. The moment your land is impacted by a compulsory acquisition process you may be able to trigger your entitlement to compensation.

Our work is at no cost to you, as the Acquiring Authority is legally required to pay our costs and we will only seek payment from the Acquiring Authority – not you.
