In 2015, Slater and Gordon proudly became a partner of the Collingwood Football Club Foundation on two wonderful community programs.
Epworth Rehabilitation Program
The Collingwood Football Club works closely with the Epworth Hospital to provide support for the Rehabilitation Unit and assist therapy teams. The aim of the program is to help patients and their families adjust to ongoing changes in their lifestyle following serious injury.
The club offers the opportunity for Epworth physios to bring their clients into the club to use the state of the art gym facilities.
The club also provides the Epworth with tickets to various games throughout the season, to provide patients and their families with some time away from the hospital.
Many of Slater and Gordon’s injured clients partake in extensive rehabilitation programs and we recognise the important role this plays in an individual’s recovery. Partnering with the Collingwood Football Club Foundation on this program is a fantastic opportunity to support the amazing work that the team at Epworth do to deliver positive outcomes for their patients.
Magpie Nest Housing Project
Magpie Nest aims to make a genuine difference in the lives of people experiencing homelessness by providing a network of support services and safe, affordable accommodation.
Magpie Nest is run in partnership with the Salvation Army Project 614 Team and provides case management support. The program is currently operating 35 houses in Melbourne providing homes for over 100 people.
The program also supports The Magpie Nest at Hamodava Café in the city which serves up to 3000 free meals each week for people experiencing homelessness.
Addressing disadvantage and inequality in the community is an issue that fits closely with Slater and Gordon’s values. Our employees are encouraged to participate in our staff volunteering program which includes opportunities to volunteer at Hamodava Café and we have groups volunteering at the café on a regular basis.
We look forward to working closely with the Collingwood Football Club Foundation as they expand the Magpie Nest Housing Project and provide further opportunities for disadvantaged Victorians to feel safe and a part of the community.
