Doctors have told Slater and Gordon that some doctors, especially junior doctors, are regularly working extreme hours in excess of their rostered shifts.

Unsafe work hours in hospitals have serious consequences for patient safety and doctors’ wellbeing. Data released by the Australian Medical Association’s Safe Hours Audit says that 53 per cent of doctors are working “unsafe” hours and are at a significant or high risk of fatigue.

We have spoken to many doctors who have told us of the extreme pressure and toll that unsafe working hours takes on them.

We encourage any doctors who have worked hours in excess of their rostered shifts to get in touch with our team.
