We recognise the need for our people to strike a balance between their work life and personal life commitments.
We offer a number of initiatives within the firm to ensure you’ll have the opportunity to achieve a work life balance.
We believe it’s important for you to have the opportunity to spend time with family and friends over the festive season. Slater and Gordon shuts down over the Christmas and New Year period and we provide employees with an extra 5 days paid leave during this time.
Leave of Absence
A Leave of Absence (period of unpaid leave) is available to take time out of work to pursue other work or personal opportunities.
For a number of years Slater and Gordon has been a leader in the legal industry in the area of paid parental leave. We offer 18 weeks paid leave for the primary caregiver and 3 weeks paid leave for the non-primary caregiver.
Religious and Cultural Leave
At Slater and Gordon we recognise the cultural diversity of our workforce. You will have access to 2 paid days per annum for religious and cultural days.
Blood Donors Leave
We support any employee who wishes to donate blood at the Red Cross. If you are a donor, you can take up to 2 hours of paid leave to donate blood.
Long Service Leave
Slater and Gordon offer our staff more generous long service leave entitlements than the minimum legislative entitlement. You will be entitled to just over three months of long service leave after 10 years of service. In some instances, you may also access your long service leave before the 10year mark.
Supporting a Flexible Workforce
The “normal” nine to five isn’t normal anymore. We support the need for flexibility and balance between work, family commitments and personal needs. To help find that balance, we offer a range of formal flexible work practices.
In addition to the standard personal/carers level entitlements, in the event of a serious illness, you will be able to apply for extended sick leave of up to 90 days on full pay and a further 90 days on half pay.
Investing in You and Your Career
Slater and Gordon encourages the personal and professional career development of all our staff. We support this through our commitment to ongoing training and development, including attendance at relevant external training seminars and conferences. We also run a comprehensive internal training program for all our staff, which incorporates technical and leadership skills development. The Learning and Development Program is designed to enhance employee skills and knowledge, as well as providing personal development and improving client service.
We provide Study Assistance in the form of financial assistance and study leave for both work related study and personal study programs.
Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
Slater and Gordon recognise employees can sometimes experience stress that may impact their working and personal life. Our employees can access our EAP program during these times. This professional counselling service is an external offering and treated with utmost confidentiality.
