Relocating to Wangaratta in Victoria’s northeast was an opportunity that Tim Jackson could not pass up. How many first year lawyers are given the chance to run a practice and help build the profile of Australia’s leading consumer law firm?
In 2010 Slater and Gordon acquired Stewart and Noble, a local law firm with a long history of providing legal services in the region spanning more than 70 years. Tim’s appointment as a permanent lawyer in the Wangaratta office marks a commitment by our firm to carry on that presence hopefully for many years to come.
Tim, who was born and bred in Wangaratta, also sees this move as a chance to be closer to family and friends on a regular basis. ‘Growing up in a country town I always enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and community spirit,’ he says. ‘I’m looking forward to catching up with the local business owners and forming relationships within the community.’
In building our brand in the region Tim faces the challenge of coming up against a tight network of well-established local law firms. He says it will take a lot of strategic planning and community involvement to win the locals over but he is up to the task.
‘Slater and Gordon has provided me with tremendous support through various training sessions, budget management training and marketing,’ he says.
To add to his repertoire of experiences, Tim also owns a small business in Wangaratta, Putt and Glow Mini Golf. And all this at the ripe old age of 25.
