The PI Show - where lawyers discuss real life stories
By Slater and Gordon
In 2014, Nowicki Carbone Personal Injury Lawyers joined the Slater and Gordon Group. In addition to extending our network of specialist personal injury lawyers in Victoria, Nowicki Carbone also brought with it its own TV Show dedicated to educating the public on personal injury law.
Produced for TV since 2008, The PI Show broadcasts on Monday nights on Channel 31 at 8pm, and now also on Foxtel (Aurora) at 9pm. It is also available to view online at www.thepishow.com.au and on Youtube.
The mandate of The PI Show is to inform the public of the rights of injured people and support calls for law reform that reflects these rights.
Recently, The PI Show looked at the dangers faced by workers and the toll of workplace fatalities. Tony Carbone and John Karantzis, Practice Group Leader Workers Compensation, were joined by Damian and Rae Panlock, whose daughter Brodie tragically took her life following relentless workplace bullying.
The Panlocks campaigned strongly for new and tougher laws, resulting in Victoria’s anti-bullying legislation, known as Brodie’s Law, which made serious bullying a crime punishable by up to 10 years in jail.
The show discusses current important community issues such as the homeless crisis, workplace mental health, and access to legal services, and is an opportunity to promote the values of the business, and profile the wonderful work being done by a number of not-for-profit and community support groups. Recent episodes have featured guests including Bevan Warner, Managing Director, Victoria Legal Aid, Joe Calafiore, CEO, Transport Accident Commission, Nick Arvanitis, beyondblue, and Brendan Nottle, Salvation Army.
The original panel line up of the show included Tony Carbone and the late Harry Nowicki. In recent years, Tony Carbone has been at the helm, with the other Nowicki Carbone partners – Nunzio Tartaglia, Don Maffia, and John Karantzis – on the panel.
Since becoming part of the Slater and Gordon Group, Slater and Gordon lawyers have also appeared on the show.
The show also covers a variety of general law topics such as succession planning, particular requirements of those who care for dependants with special needs and recent issues in Family Law.
