Community Fund November

The Slater and Gordon Community Fund was set up by the firm to offer philanthropic support to individuals and groups for community projects across Australia.

There’s a sense of pride that comes out of our staff contributing funds from their pay. These contributions help make a positive difference in people’s lives.

I’m pleased to share the latest round of grants recently approved. More than $20,000 has been distributed.

Nambucca Heads Men’s Shed for $2,039

The grant will pay for a new hot water system and security system as part of a fit out of a Men’s Shed in Nambucca Heads, NSW. The Men’s Shed is a social support service aimed at maintaining and expanding men’s social networks, providing healthcare information, education and work related skills to encourage men to participate in projects that can benefit the whole community.

The grant will provide 22 community lunches over a two year period. The Junction Works focuses on delivering creative and enriching community, youth, children’s and disability services that are designed to improve the lives of some of our community’s most vulnerable people.

Imagine Me creative project for people with spinal injuries for $9000

Twelve people with spinal cord injuries will have the opportunity to explore through art their experiences with disabilities. The Imagine Me project allows 12 people with spinal injuries to participate in a workshop where they’ll learn photography and creative digital imaging. At its conclusion their final self-portrait artwork will be exhibited to the public at the Royal Rehabilitation Centre in Ryde, NSW.
