Phil Gleeson
Practice Group Leader, Perth
Medical Negligence, Public Liability, Motor Vehicle Accidents
Phillip Gleeson approaches his practice with a keen awareness of the privilege attached to being invited into other people's lives.
His clients, men and women, wage earners with families to support, typically come to him after sustaining injuries, often catastrophic, such as spinal cord damage and acquired brain injuries, from motor vehicle accidents and accidents in public places or complications resulting from medical negligence.
Calm and compassionate, Phillip takes great satisfaction and pride from delivering his clients legal remedies in circumstances where costs would otherwise be preventative. His ability to explain complex concepts in language that can be understood and his ability to gain people’s trust are two of his greatest strengths.
For Phillip, working at Slater & Gordon is all about “ensuring that people are dealt with fairly and with dignity no matter what their background or personal circumstances”.
Phillip graduated from the University of Melbourne in 1996. He began working at Slater & Gordon in 1998, where he is now Practice Group Leader in the firm’s Perth office.
“It’s a privilege to have other people invite you into their lives at what is sometimes their darkest hour and an honour to be asked by those people for assistance.”

Testimonials
“This is just a short note to express my very genuine thanks for your work on the claim. I know that without your work cautious and well reasoned encouragement I would have not had the surety to continue. And what a conclusion! Wow! I want you to know that now I will not only be debt free, not only will I also be able to own my car, but also I will be able to work towards buying a house again – so this has changed the future for both children, who will now have a small nest egg at the back of them for the future. Your work has made a huge difference tour lives – I just want to say thank you – not only for the work but for your total belief in me.”
“Your comments as quoted in the West Australian are a great contribution to the discussion about open medical disclosure and speak to both doctors and consumers about the benefits of openness….”
“It’s hard to express in words our gratitude for your work in offering us some closure to our experience with our son’s birth. Without the generosity of Slater & Gordon we would carry the burden of the unknown and now we can rest better knowing a large chunk of the truth. The truth we will pass on to a much loved son when he is old enough to understand and it will shape his person and to deal with the hand he’s been dealt.”
