Paula Shelton
Practice Group Leader, Melbourne
Medical negligence
Paula Shelton’s clients are overwhelmingly ordinary and as varied as any set of patients but all find themselves in the extraordinary shared circumstance of having experienced medical negligence.
They may have experienced birth trauma, failure to diagnose cancer, failure to warn of the risks of operations, negligent surgery, failure to follow up results or failure to refer for appropriate specialist treatment.
Securing each a measure of compensation that will make it easier for them to cope with their injury runs in close parallel to Paula’s passion to ensure that all obtain justice. She is committed, thorough and, by her own admission, “not afraid of a fight”.
“Corny as it sounds I do my job because I believe in it,” she says. “The right of injured people to seek justice is fundamental and those who provide negligent treatment must be accountable.”
Paula graduated from the University of Melbourne in 1992 and has been working at Slater & Gordon ever since.
