National Practice Group Leader, Melbourne

Comcare | Military Compensation

Exceeding the expectations of his clients whilst successfully resolving their concerns is what matters most in Ben Mason’s federal workers' compensation practice.

Ben’s clients come to him typically when their compensation claims have been rejected or to seek advice regarding claims for permanent impairment and dependency. They include current and former seafarers, members of the Australian Defence Force, employees of the Commonwealth and ACT governments, and employees of corporations licensed to insure under the Comcare scheme (such as NAB, Telstra, Optus and Australia Post).

If a client’s matter cannot be resolved through an internal review process, Ben will often appeal to an external body, such as the Administrative Appeals Tribunal or Federal Court of Australia.

Ben graduated from the Australian National University in 2001, first began working with Slater & Gordon in 2003 and was appointed practice group leader of the Victorian Commonwealth Compensation Department in 2007.

“The greatest satisfaction is exceeding the expectations of my clients.”
