Andrew Grech
Managing Director, Melbourne
Management Services Group
Perception and persistence have been the hallmarks of Andrew Grech’s approach to legal practice ever since he arrived at Slater & Gordon as an associate and personal injury law specialist in 1994.
Andrew's direct and organised style saw him rapidly accumulate extensive litigation experience – from blood products litigation to claims for groups of investors or investor syndicates suffering financial loss as a result of breaches of the Trade Practices Act and Corporations Law.
Appointed Managing Director in 2000, Andrew’s singular level of focus has continued in his work with partners and management to consolidate Slater & Gordon’s reputation as one of Australia’s leading plaintiff law firms. Under his steerage, Slater & Gordon has enjoyed substantial growth, become an established presence in suburban and regional centres including Dandenong, Footscray and Morwell, and opened new offices in Brisbane, Adelaide, Canberra, Parramatta, Geelong and Ballarat.
Although Andrew’s opportunities to work directly with clients are limited these days by his management responsibilities, he remains passionate about the satisfaction that comes from developing new areas of law and, from time to time, involving himself in complex legal issues and public interest litigation.
Apply your talent to work that matters is the advice that Andrew gives to young law students but it could apply equally well as a description of his own legal career. What he likes most about his job however, he says, is the opportunity to work with a “terrific group of people who are passionate about what they can do”.
