Aleta Shilton approaches her family law practice with the aim of providing straight forward, realistic advice to clients navigating the legal & practical issues that inevitably arise when relationships break down.

She advises clients in marriage and defacto relationships, same sex partners, grandparents and other significant people in the lives of children on matters ranging from divorce and intervention orders to division of property and issues relating to the parenting and financial support of children & spouses.

In all cases, achieving an outcome for her clients that reflects their legal entitlements in a cost-effective manner is what matters most to Aleta. Attentive to detail and understanding, Aleta places particular emphasis on clear communication and equipping her clients with a full understanding of the legal process and the law so that they can make informed decisions about their families and their future. Aleta has significant experience in negotiations, mediations, court proceedings and is able to represent her client’s best interests with skill and determination.

Aleta graduated from the University of Melbourne in 1992 and joined Slater and Gordon in 1998 where she is now the firm’s National Practice Group Manager in family law.
