Why you need independent legal advice from an expert TAC lawyer

• The Transport Accident Commission (TAC) has its own lawyers who advise it about its obligations to pay compensation, or not
• The TAC will not provide you with independent legal advice, nor will it automatically pay your full compensation entitlement, it is up to you to consult a TAC lawyer in regard to your TAC claim.

TAC benefits, you could be entitled to

If you are injured in a transport accident, you could be entitled to a range of benefits, available irrespective of how the accident occurred. These benefits are paid by the TAC, and include:

• Payment of medical expenses
• Income loss payments when you are unable to work due to your injury
• A lump sum for any permanent impairment - the maximum payable is $281,090

In addition you could claim a further lump sum payment from the TAC if another party was at fault, or partly at fault for the accident. This is known as a common law claim.

The maximum benefit payable in a common law claim from the TAC is:

• $436,680 for pain and suffering compensation
• $982,560 for financial loss compensation
• TOTAL of  $1,419,240.00
