Foreign Judgment Enforcement
Slater & Gordon has significant experience in enforcing foreign judgments and awards by obtaining judgments in the Australian courts, and then executing against available assets within Australia.
We are able to advise on the appropriate course of action depending on the country of the original judgment or award, and the location of recoverable assets in Australia.
We work closely with lawyers in the United Kingdom, the EU and the United States to coordinate enforcement and recovery actions and are also able to assist clients who may need to defend enforcement proceedings in Australia.
International Family Law
An increasingly global workforce has seen many Australians entering into relationships with non-Australian citizens.
Unfortunately some of these relationships breakdown, leaving the parties to try and resolve their disputes in a highly complex cross-border environment. This often involves division of assets located in different countries as well trying to determine care arrangements for children on the other side of the world.
