On Thursday 3rd December 2009, Slater & Gordon's Commercial & Project Litigation team hosted drinks to celebrate our new premises and the successful conclusion of another business year.

Against the backdrop of the city views from the 12th floor of our Melbourne office, guests mingled over drinks and heard from guest speaker the Hon. Steve Bracks, former Premier of Victoria.

Mayor welcomes Slater & Gordon to Ipswich
Ipswich Mayor Cr Paul Pisasale welcomed Slater & Gordon Lawyers to the city with a visit to their office on November 9.

The Mayor met with the Ipswich practice manager Kym Greinke and staff as part of an official visit to the office, which opened in October this year.

The Ipswich office is the third to be opened in Queensland as the firm already has offices in Brisbane and Southport.

Practice manager Kym Greinke brings a broad range of experience to her new position. She has lived in Ipswich for the past 24 years and worked in both Ipswich and Brisbane.

The new office can assist local residents with legal advice and assistance in areas such as motor vehicle accident compensation, workers compensation, medical negligence, public liability, family law and wills and estates.

The new office is located at 100 Brisbane Street, Ipswich.

Inaugural Slater & Gordon Inspiring Women Lunch [10 November 2009]

Slater & Gordon's inaugural Inspiring Women Event was held recently in Sydney. The luncheon welcomed two special guest speakers, The Hon Tanya Plibersek MP, Minister for the Status of Women and NSW Women of the Year, Cheryl Koenig to share some inspiring words with over 100 women from a diverse range of industries.

The Mother's Day Classic

The Mother's Day Classic, a walk/run for breast cancer research, was established in 1998. Its purpose is to raise money for breast cancer research, to increase awareness of breast cancer within the community and to support and remember those affected by breast cancer.

Slater & Gordon is a national Silver Sponsor of the 2009 Classic to be held on Sunday May 10th.

Slater & Gordon Hobart office opening

The evening of the 2nd of April saw Leigh Harper, Practice Group Leader of Slater & Gordon’s Hobart office joined by a number of distinguished guests to officially celebrate Slater & Gordon’s first venture in Tasmania.

As well as being joined by a small number of Slater & Gordon staff, Leigh was delighted to have in attendance a number of local business people, doctors, union representatives and so forth with whom Slater & Gordon look forward to building strong relationships for our future in the Tasmanian legal landscape.

Australian Medical Liability

Slater & Gordon QLD Medical Negligence and Personal Injury drinks - 27 November 2008
To toast the launch of "Australian Medical Liability", a practical reference source book and commentary for all legal practitioners interested in the law of medical negligence, co-written by Slater & Gordon's national medical negligence practice group leader Bill Madden, the medical negligence and personal injury team from Slater & Gordon's Queensland practices hosted a small drinks party in November 2008.

Brisbane Office Opening

Deputy Prime Minister the Hon Julia Gillard MP (and also a former Slater & Gordon partner) recently opened the firm's new CBD office, joining a number of distinguished guests who attended to celebrate the rapid growth that the practice has experienced in Queensland since first opening it's doors in 2005.

Slater & Gordon's 29 sites across Australia now include two offices in Queensland in Brisbane and Southport, with ongoing expansion plans recently boosted by the October announcement of the acquisition subject to due diligence, of the personal injuries practice of Carter Capner Solicitors.
