Slater & Gordon Medical Law Forum 2012

"The unspoken word never does harm" *

Tuesday 8 May 2012 saw the most recent in the Slater & Gordon Medical Law Forum series, held in conjunction with the Australian National University College of Law Canberra and supported by the Australasian Association of Bioethics & Health Law.

Chaired by Bill Madden, National Practice Group Leader - Medical Law, Slater & Gordon and by Ruth Townsend, Lecturer in Health Law, Ethics & Human Rights, ANU College of Law & ANU School of Medicine, the program theme was "The unspoken word never does harm" - an observation no doubt true in some circumstances, but what of the health care arena in 2012?

The Forum was kindly opened by Mr Peter Dingwall, Magistrate and Coroner of the Canberra Magistrates Court.

Slater & Gordon wishes to thank the following speakers for their excellent presentation and panel remarks:

  • Associate Professor Tina Cockburn, Queensland University of Technology
  • Mr Michael Eburn, Australian National University
  • Mr Graham Segal OAM, Barrister
  • Ms Adele Stevens, Health Care Consumers Association (ACT)
  • Mr Andrew Took, Avant Mutual Group Limited
  • Ms Ruth Townsend, Australian National University
  • Ms Elizabeth Trickett, Executive Director, Quality and Safety Unit, ACT Health

The next Slater & Gordon Medical Law Forum will be held in early 2013.

*Lajos Kossuth, Lawyer, Hungary (1802 – 1894).
